MEET OUR TEACHERS
Contramestre Jiló
Sergio Luiz Mendes Pereira was born in Rio de Janeiro in 1981. Jiló discovered capoeira at a young age, and his dream was always clear: to travel the world, share the art, and keep it alive through teaching.
With over 30 years of experience, Jiló has earned the rank of Contramestre — one step below Mestre de Capoeira. He's a sought-after instructor across Europe, teaching at festivals and workshops, working with students of all ages and backgrounds.
"Somos mais do que mil, somos um"
We are more than a thousand, we are one.
Jiló arrived in Denmark in 2001 at 19 years old. He settled first in Odense, where he built a thriving capoeira community that still trains today. In 2007, he moved to Aarhus and did the same, creating a group rooted in respect, tradition, and connection. Students from Odense, Aarhus, and Copenhagen regularly visit each other's rodas, keeping the community strong.
Today, Jiló lives and teaches in Copenhagen . The space is welcoming, the group is growing, and there's always room for more. No fixed start dates — you can join anytime.
Graduada Pantera
Graduada Pantera
Pantera teaches capoeira for both children and adults, bringing energy, structure, and deep respect for the art to every class. Her children's sessions at SPOR10, Jernbanebyen focus on movement, music, and play — welcoming kids of all levels while building coordination, control, and connection through games and acrobatics.
For adults, Pantera leads all-levels training at Europaskolen, Tumlesalen on Tuesday and Thursday evenings from 6–8pm. Her teaching emphasizes the fundamentals — ginga, kicks, defense, and musicality — creating space for beginners and experienced students to train together.

Our Mestre
Grupo Capoeira Malungos is grounded in the Senzala lineage, one of capoeira's most respected groups worldwide. Our mestre is Mestre Amendoim, based in Brasília, Brazil — a teacher known for his technical precision, deep cultural knowledge, and commitment to preserving capoeira's Afro-Brazilian roots.
We stay connected to our roots and regularly travel to Brasília to train with Mestre Amendoim, and he visits Denmark every few years to teach workshops and maintain our bonds.
